Majura FC Coach of the Year

The Majura FC Coach of the Year award is a great opportunity to celebrate the work of the fantastic coaches we have in our club. Nominations for coach of the year will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • Makes fun and team work the priority of the game – not a personal desire to win
  • Ensures all players get the same opportunities irrespective of their ability and talent
  • Treats each player as an individual and inspires them to be the best they can be
  • Is well organised; plans and prepares for both training and games
  • Improves and updates their own coaching skills and learns how to be a better coach
  • Is a role model of fair play and sportsmanship for their players to follow
  • Communicates and cooperates positively with players, parents and referees

To nominate, please email your nomination to Jo by Monday 31 August 2015.

Playing Shirts and Training Kit Handback

All playing shirts and training kits needs to be returned to the club on Saturday 12 September between 10 am and 12 noon. All shirts need to be washed and returned as complete sets in the team bag. Any missing shirts will need to be paid for by the player who lost them unless there are extenuating circumstances. It is the manager's final job of the year to make sure shirts are returned and the coach's job to make sure training kits are returned.

Majura thanks you for looking after this gear all season as it is one of the major costs of running our club. We do not lend out playing shirts for futsal teams as the futsal competition is not a club based competition. We do have some old sets of shirts that this year we will be hiring out to futsal teams as there is a demand for them. They are all for younger teams (U7-U9) so if you are interested then please email Jo.

Majura is happy to help these teams out - so if you are interested in playing in either team then please contact Jo 0407 213 910 as soon as possible.

Donate your old football boots now

Majura is asking anyone with football boots that they are not using or have grown out of to donate them now. Besides the need for boots in the local community there is also a need in Africa. An ex-Majura family is working in Malawi and is part of a football program there. Most of the kids play barefoot so they are looking for second hand boots for them. I'm sure Majura families could come up with enough boots to give to a couple of teams. You can drop them off at the clubhouse over the next two Saturdays June 13 or June 20.

It's just great to see you play...

As you pop the last of your sausage sandwich into your mouth and jump into the car to leave, do you look into the rear vision mirror at your little Timmy Cahill or Michelle Heyman in the back seat and make an observation (or three) about the just-completed match? What do you say? Does it involve a goal-scoring opportunity missed? A poor refereeing (or coaching) decision. An unlucky loss or a fantastic win?

In the car ride home next Saturday, consider saying nothing more than "Gee it was great to see you out there". For a lot of children, this will make their experience much more enjoyable. If they or their team have had a bad day they don't need to hear it from you because they already know.

Recent government research showed that two thirds of Australian children are not interested in playing sport that is focused on winning, performance and competency. They just want to play for fun, enjoyment and to be with friends. Many of these children are actually turned off sport because it's too competition focused.

We all know the benefits that come from playing sport. At Majura, we want children to enjoy their football experience and to keep playing, year after year. And we think parents have a major role in this. You might have noticed around the club our "Relax, and let the children play" message. Please think about this next time you're standing on the sideline watching your children play....and also in the car ride home.

Registrations on My Football Club

If you are having trouble registering on the My Football Club website you’re not alone. The system is currently receiving about 13,000 registrations a day and is struggling to cope. There have been issues whereby the Pay Online and Manual Payment at Club buttons both grey out once selected and cannot be selected again. The system is also extremely slow in peak times which tends to be late afternoon and nights. Please be patient as there is no other way to register other than online.
